Objective
This Damage Management Policy aims to provide a clear, fair, and secure framework for Host Families and Guest Families, in the context of stays organized through MyFamilyAbroad ("MFA").
Although incidents remain rare, MFA has established a system designed to protect host families in the event of damage caused during a stay, while ensuring honest, documented, and proportionate handling of situations.
1. General Principle – MFA Host Protection
- MFA may cover Host Families up to €100,000 per stay for material damage caused to the property or personal belongings it contains, when such damage is:
- directly attributable to the acts of a Guest Family, a hosted Young Person, or a provider coordinated by MFA,
- occurred during a confirmed MFA stay.
- This protection ("MFA Host Protection Guarantee") applies only if:
- MFA can investigate the claim,
- the evidence provided is verifiable,
- the damage is not already covered by an existing insurance policy.
⚠️ This guarantee does not replace personal homeowner's insurance.
2. Mandatory Host Insurance
In accordance with the Terms of Use:
- each Host Family must have valid homeowner's insurance (owner or tenant),
- covering the hosting of third parties, including minors.
The MFA Host Protection Guarantee steps in as a supplement, and only after analysis of existing coverages.
3. Reporting Damage
3.1 Reporting Deadline
- All damage must be reported to MFA within 7 days of the Young Person's departure.
- In the event of the Host's extended absence (travel), this deadline may be extended to 7 days after return, upon presentation of supporting documentation.
- Any report made after the deadline may be rejected.
3.2 Reporting Procedure
The report must be sent by email to: 📩 [email protected]
